Qashio cards are protected by a range of different fraud prevention and protection mechanisms to safeguard our customers. However, you also play an important role in keeping your accounts and cards secure. Below are some tips to help identify and protect you from fraud.

  • Enable 3DS for your account - from your app settings, enable Two-factor Authentication to further protect your account. If you are a system administrator, you can enforce this across your organistion by enabling the ‘Authentication is mandatory for all users’ setting on the admin settings panel.

  • Keep push notifications and email alerts enabled - ensure the push notifications and emails Qashio sends, post a transaction, are enabled to allow you to monitor transactions at all times.

  • Keep your card on your person at all times - ensure your card is with you in person or stored in a safe place.

  • Keep your card and PIN number private - when using your card in a public place, ensure you keep your card number covered at all times and ensure the pin pad is not visible to others when entering your pin code.

  • Never give your card number to another person - do not share your card number with anyone including colleagues, friends and family members.

  • Take additional caution when transacting online - Check the credibility of the merchant - credible sites will start with "https" and show the secure lock symbol in the address field.

  • Avoid storing your card details online - only store your card details on trusted sites and where necessary.

  • Transact on a secure network - avoid transacting or checking your account information on a public wifi network as this can be easily access by others.

  • Beware of suspicious transactions - You can suspend your card immediately through the Qashio app or you can inform your system administrator to suspend or block your card using the Qashio Admin Portal. You can also contact Qashio in-app support for further assistance and advice.

  • Stay alert - be cautious of suspicious calls or emails claiming to be from Qashio, Central Bank, Police, or others. Please do not share any personal information or bank details via phone or online, and do not click on any suspicious links sent by e-mail/SMS/WhatsApp or via Social Media platforms.

  • Be Aware of Card Skimming - If you have any doubt about the authenticity of the ATM or the POS machine, do not use it. Card skimming is the act of using a skimmer to illegally collect data from the magnetic stripe of a credit, debit or ATM card. These skimmers are installed in ATM or POS machines. This information, copied onto another blank card's magnetic stripe, is then used by an identity thief to make purchases or withdraw cash in the name of the actual account holder. Check the ATM or the POS machine for any abnormalities and look for any unusual or strange additions to the machine.

If you believe you have been the victim of fraud or have any suspicions regarding transactions on your card(s), suspend your card immediately and contact us via [email protected] for further assistance.
